In this article, I will show you good habits to start in order to alleviate urinary symptoms caused by Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs).

But first, let me tell you about this urinary condition that can affect your daily life.

What are Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs)?

Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are most commonly caused by bacterial infections in the urinary tract.

The bacteria enter the urinary tract through the urethra and multiply in the bladder. This can happen because of poor hygiene, sexual activity, holding urine for too long, or other health conditions that weaken the immune system.

Women are more prone to UTIs. Their shorter urethra allows bacteria to reach the bladder more easily.

Symptoms

If you are diagnosed with UTIs, you may feel pain or a burning sensation when urinating. You also go more often to the toilet, especially at night. Frequent or intense urge to urinate and nocturia are the main symptoms of UTIs.

When urinating, you may find it difficult to empty your bladder completely. Your urine may become cloudy or strong-smelling. Even worse, you may see blood in the urine (hematuria)

Women can experience pelvic pain and men rectal pain.

Other symptoms, such as feeling tired or shaky, may indicate a urinary infection. In more severe cases, symptoms can escalate to fever or chills, as well as nausea and vomiting.

What Can We Do?

It’s important to know whether you’re suffering from a urinary tract infection or not. That’s why, at the first symptoms, you should seek medical advice and have urine tests done.

Once diagnosed, most people turn to medication. In more cases than necessary, even to antibiotics. It’s well-known that drugs have side effects. They can destroy the intestinal flora, affect the liver, compromise the immune system, and create addiction. In the end, sometimes drugs cause more harm than good. This is the dark side of medication.

But the Good News is that there are also natural ways to treat UTIs. If you adjust your diet and everyday routine, you can speed up the healing process and alleviate these symptoms.

Good Habits to Alleviate Symptoms of UTIs

Here is what you should include in your routine to alleviate the symptoms of UTIs:

Empty Your Bladder and Overcome Incomplete Bladder Emptying!

Some of us may experience issues with incomplete emptying or urinary retention.

We should pay attention to our bladder emptying process.

Normally, it should be easy to empty your bladder with a strong and continuous stream that does not require straining.

You should feel like your bladder has been completely emptied after urination.

Straining to empty the bladder can harm the pelvic floor and increase the risk of bladder problems.

The position and technique used for bladder emptying can ensure effective and complete voiding for people who have difficulty emptying their bladders.

You should follow these specific guidelines for proper bladder emptying:

  • Sit on the toilet seat without hovering.
  • Keep your feet supported on the ground or a footstool.
  • Maintaining an inward curve in the lower back.
  • Avoiding straining.

Here are some tips to improve bladder emptying:

  • Avoid overfilling your bladder by emptying it regularly (every 3-4 hours), depending on your fluid intake.
  • Stay hydrated by drinking steadily throughout the day to prevent sudden bladder filling.
  • Take your time to fully empty your bladder instead of rushing the process.
  • Avoid emptying your bladder just in case, and follow a regular voiding schedule.
  • Consider a timed emptying program if you have difficulty emptying your bladder due to reduced sensation.
  • Reduce intake of diuretics like caffeine and alcohol, as they can increase bladder filling and contribute to urinary issues.

Additionally, consider good hygiene. Always wipe from front to back after using the restroom to prevent bacteria from entering the urethra.

Wear breathable clothing! Choose underwear made of cotton to help keep the genital area dry and prevent bacterial growth.

I have also prepared a list of bad habits that can lead to urinary infections. The list is in the Remedies for Longevity book, the presentation of which is available here.
